Webair Installs Hot Aisle Containment System in Flagship NY1 Data Center
NEW YORK, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Webair, a leading provider of Cloud Hosting, Colocation and Managed solutions completed installation of a Hot Aisle Containment System in its flagship NY1 data center.
Hot aisle containment consists of a physical barrier that guides hot exhaust airflow back to the AC return and takes advantage of the natural properties of warm air rising. This can increase cooling efficiency by 30% or more.
NY1 is Long Island’s most secure, fully redundant data center, located in one of the nations newest technological and interconnection hubs, offering hybrid capabilities that enable you to scale from colocation to cloud – all in the same facility. “This has drastically increased the efficiency of our HVAC systems. It also allows us to greatly increase the density of the facility, and best of all its great for the environment by reducing our carbon footprint,” reports Michael Christopher Orza, CEO, Webair.
Hot aisle containment increases the effectiveness of your data center cooling, by keeping hot exhaust air emitted from server racks separated so that it returns to the AC coil both hot and dry, increasing the AC’s cooling capacity. The hot air is given a separate pathway back to the AC intake without mixing with the cold air. In some cases, by containing the hot air and having it hit the AC coil at the hottest temperature possible, it can double the cooling tonnage.
